All my sons- Reflection Act 3 P.118

Reflection:

1.What I found different about reading a play is that its more detailed than a story, you get connected to the characters almost as close as a movie, while a story is a lot more general.
I did enjoy the play, it was long which I think is a good thing, as it gets slowly more and more interesting.

2.Probably the most interesting character in the play was Joe Keller, the way his character progressed throughout the play was interesting by it self, but he also was a fun and a very smart character.

3.The thinking skill Comparing and Contrasting helped me understand the different character personalities of each two characters, like how Jim and his wife Sue have completely different points of view.
Inferring helped me understand that some characters kept a secret from all the other characters, the way Kate always kept telling Joe to stop with the jail game with Bard, made it clear that the Keller's might be hiding a secret.
Uncovering Motives made me understand each characters motivation in certain acts, for example what motivated George to come all the way to the Kellers.

Dear diary,

The last few days were hard. I cant think of anything good that happened in these past days, except maybe Ann coming here, but I think that's the reason for all of this pain. If she hadn't came(gr.) here in the first place, maybe none of this would of happen.

I don't know what I'm suppose to do now that my father is gone, he was everything to me. I never saw him as a criminal, only (as) a good man, and I would of(ww.-have) never let him go to prison, I just wish I could of(ww.) told him that myself.

If it wasn't for George and Larry's letter, he would of(מיותר) still been(gr.) here with me, (new sentence) but I cant talk like that about George and definitely not Ann, she's gonna be my wife tomorrow and I have to get prepared for the wedding.

I'll try and visiting(gr.) mother after the wedding, out of us all, she has the hardest time right now(phr.) and she could use some company.

Good work

All my sons- Bridging text and context act 3

The information about Arthur Miller explains the background of the playwright, from his early life, as a wealthy child, to the crisis  in his life caused by the Wall street crash. As Miller's life went on, he eventually became a playwright, a very successful one at that, who wrote over 30 plays as well as a novel, short stories and essays. Miller is also known for his plays to address social and political issues, his major works discuss the importance of personal and social responsibility.

Thanks to the information about Arthur Miller, we can see how Miller brought Joe Keller to life based on his own father, who also owned a well formed factory. The only difference is that Keller was afraid of losing his factory, that factory kept his family in a good position in life, they always had money, (New sentence) not only that, but Joe wanted to give his factory to his son, Chris.(and how did Chris feel about that? Why?) While Arthur's father had lost his factory, he experienced the pain and difficulty of losing a well formed business

The message Arthur Miller was trying to convey to us based on the information about him, was expressed through Joe and Chris, how they behaved and the conflict that was(ww.-developed)  between them. Chris and Joe had conflicting points of view on the social and political issues caused often by the pressures exerted by the family, and social responsibilities.
Joe (was) an irresponsible man, who couldn't take full responsibility for his crimes, (New sentence) he didn't want to go to jail so he made up excuses, first at the(מיותר) court when he told everyone he is(gr.-was) sick, and then when he thought that the shipped cracked cylinder heads wont be placed on the airplanes.
When Chris found out about this, he saw his father in a whole different way, he thought Joe was better than all of that.

Better, but it is a bit disorganized.

(Who are you writing to?)
Rockstar Games

Dear Sir/ Madam of Rockstar company(מיותר),

As(מיותר) your company stated that the newly downloadable content for your latest game will be free to download as soon as it will be(gr.) released on November 01, 2013, (Start a new sentence) but I've recently checked the online store for the downloadable content and it said (that) in order to download it the user must pay 30 dollars.I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with your product.

As soon as your company mentioned that the downloadable content will be absolutely free, people world wide were full of excitement including myself. Saving the money could of(ww.-have)  been a good solution, 30 dollars for a content this big isn't a problem and surely worth the money,(New sentence) but regarding the situation at this point in which your company promised the content for free(phr.- simplify this sentence), I wasn't able to put aside a few dollars since I knew the content was going to be free of charge.

I'm kindly asking your company to live up to they'r(sp.) promise, and set the content to no cost. I would highly appreciate your company for doing so, and I believe people world wide definitely would(wo.) feel the same way.

I understand that you're a well known and responsible company, and I am sure you'v got more important subjects to attend to, therefore you have my thanks for reading my letter and I'm sure you will handle this to my and all people's(ww.) satisfaction.

I look forward to your reply.

Yours truly,
Vlad Vainer(ww.- do not use your own name please).

Post reading Introdaction to poetry P.5

In my opinion a poem should be taught in a way that the students will understand but at the same time have fun learning it, aproaching the poem with a variety of tools to analyze each stanza.

Some people like the kind Billy Collins describes in the poem Introduction to poety,  they do not analyze the poem, trying to understand each words meaning but they try to force the meaning out of the poem by force which, in my opinion ruins the experiance of learning the poem.

On the other hand, there are few people who really want to enjoy analyzing the poem and in the end understand its meaning, not by rushing through the lines, but just taking the time to see all the little meanings in each stanza.
In the end, I think people should aproach a poem with all of their tools, like Uncovering motives, and Problem solving, to uncover the meaning of the poem and not force anything out of the poem, that way people will actually enjoy reading and analyzing different poems.

Summers reading- reflection

Reflection

1. I didnt really enjoy reading the story, I dont like to be reminded of reality in which people have to take education seriously and the fact that some people live hard lives and each day is just a struggle to survive.

2.Uncovering motives helped me understand why Goerge lied in the first place, Goerge didnt went to school or didnt have any education what so ever so he felt embarrassed thats why he lied telling he is reading hundrad books.
While the cause and effect helped me understand why Mr.cattanzara helped Goerge, at one part of the story Mr.cattanzara said to Goerge "Goerge dont do what i did" meaning Mr.cattanzara has something in common with Goerge and doesnt want Goerge to live the same live and himself,
at the end everything Mr.cattanzara did turned out to be for the better Goerge started reading the books.

3.Awareness of characterization could help me see the characters in a better perspective, figuring their personality imaginating their looks seeing the story in a much better way.

Summers reading- Post reading

Post reading

Dear Mr.Cattanzara.                                                                                                    14.02.1931

Its been so long, ten years. I never got the chance to tell you what happend with me after the summer.
After what happend to me during the summer, I really started reading the hundrad books, one after the other.  I began to gain more confidense and reading books got more enjoyable.

After I finished the hundrad books I promised to myself, I was thinking about going back to school.
Even though I didnt liked to be told what to do, I got over it, and I stopped making excuses about getting things done. In school, I took education really seriusly, and I was really into history lessons, I enjoy reading real facts instead of fiction.

At the end of the year, I graduated with high grades and got a job as a history teacher assistant.
I really want to thank you Mr.Cattanzara,  now i realize you were trying to help me, and I really appreciate it.

But how have you been doing thus far? I really want to hear from you after ten years.
Looking forward to meet you.

Your friend,
Goerge.
