Mr.Kelada Analysis and interpretation P.24

E:

1.Through out the story the narrator couldnt stand Mr.Kelada and wanted to be alone because the name Mr.Kelada wasnt a typical englishman name for the narrator, and that he was a very chatty and friendly person, because of that the narrator thought that Mr.Kelada wasnt english.

Mr.Kelada was a very chatty, friendly, warming person who knew everybody and was everywhere, he is the one that ren all the events onboard.

Mrs.Ramsay had a pleasant manners and a sense of humor, she was dressed always very simply but she knew how to wear her clothes.

2.The information we learn challenge these stereotypes later in the story because each one of them had to somewhat change their stereotype, like Mr.Kelada who wanted to be right about everything had to lie so that someone else could win, Mrs.Ramsay who was a sweet modest woman turned out to be cheating on her husband, and the narrator who disliked Mr.Kelada through out the story, in the end he disliked him less.

3.I think that the author is trying to pointout that sometimes all of us have to change for the better.

Post-reading Mr.Know-all

3:

Even though Mrs.Ramsay had that desperate appeal in her eyes, which Mr.Kelada saw clearly enough to understand that she didnt want him to say that those pearls were actually real, he told at that table that the pearls were real none the less.
"I'm an expert at what I do, and quite good at it too, and I can tell you that these pearls are most certainly real and definitely worth more than eighteen dollars".
After that Mr.Kelada got up and went to his cabin.
The narrator was shocked, he went to the cabin as well and left Mr and Mrs Ramsay to discuss their situation.
"Have you no shame?" said the narrator, "the lady desperatly needed your help and you still went your own way?".
"I can't let something like that ruin my expertise, it was hard saying those pearls were real, but it would have been even harder saying that they aint" said Mr.Kelada.
"I was right about you from the beginning" said the narrator and went up to the deck to get some fresh air.
The narrator couldn't believe what Mr.Kelada did back at the table, "I hate Mr.Kelada".

Mr.Know-all -writing assignment no.3

The story "Mr.Know-all" starts of on a cruise boat from San Francisco to Yokohama.
The two main characters of the story are the narrator and Mr.Kalade, which are placed in a position where the narrator dislikes Mr.Kalade in every way possible.

The narrator is a very proud, arrogant british man, who wanted nothing more but to share a cabin with another british man. The narrator was thankful he got to share a cabin with only one more person, because back then some people had to share a cabin with three more people they didnt know.
But after the narrator found out he had to share a cabin with someone named Max Kalade he couldnt accept the fact that Mr.Kalade wasnt british thanks to his name, and right then the narrator began to dislike Mr.Kalade before even knowing him personally.

On the other hand, Mr.Kalade is a very warming, giving and friendly person that really wanted to be friends with the narrator, after all they had to spend fourteen days onboard. Mr.Kalade was always present near the narrator, in the cabin, in the dining room, on deck and he was very chatty.
Because Mr.Kalade was so friendly, he knew everyone on the boat in three days, he ran all of the events, so there were planty of stuff to do for the next fourteen days, and eventually he was named Mr.Know-all by the passengers.

In conclusion, I really think Mr.Kalade is a great person, always being giving and friendly, and that the narrator was overconfident saying he dislikes Mr.Kalade before even meeting him, if he could of giving Mr.Kalade a chance, the narrator probably whould of thought otherwise.

count that day lost- post reading activity

                                                                                                                                                   27.9.2012

Dear diary,
Today, after school I was on my way home.
Just an ordinary day, walking back home after a long day at school, with my earphones, listening to music.
When all of the sudden, I saw a man sitting on the ground with his head down.
I walked up to him and asked him what happend.
He said he had a very hard day and he couldnt find he's lunch bag.
Tired and starving, I offered him some of my own food that I had saved from school.
With a wide smile he thanked me, took the food, and ate with joy.
At the end, I was happy I made that person feel alot better.

                                                                                                                                                   28.9.2012
Dear diary,
Today wasn't much of a great day.
First off, I got up late so I didn't really made it to school on time.
Also, I got up kind of sick, I didn't really felt that good when I was in class.
I didn't talk much with my friends today, honestly I wasn't in a good mood to talk to anyone today.
So I got home, to write this down and go to bed, hoping tomorrow it will be much better than today.

count that day lost- bridging- activity 2

The information that was given to me about Eliot and what she went through out her life really made me understand the poem alot better than before.

First off, the information that I received about the poet's life is that Eliot isn't his real name, also he's not a male actually, she's a famale who tried to make a difference in society because, at that age, female writters were not taken seriously by the society. Her real name was Mary Ann Evans, and along with other writters of that age she wanted to improve society.

Mary Ann Evans often wrote about the differences between the wealthy landlords and the poor.
Same goes for the poem, Count That Day Lost, which talks about a good, well spent day, in contrast to a bad and a ruined  day. She really wanted to point out the responsibilities people have in their everyday lives and the option to choose which path to take.

In conclusion, I think, the given information about the poet's life could make us understand the poems of the poets alot better and see the reason behind each poem, which we didnt see before.

The poem that was taken from the net relates to Eliots poem in a way that they both show us how to spend our day, how you can spent your day in a good way, or how can you completely ruin your day. In other words, we can choose how to spend our day, either in a good way, or a bad way.

It reflects the issues that Eliot worte about, by telling us that even though we have a choice, and even if we are choosing to ruin our day, its our day afterall, at the end of the day, we will feel sad or unhappy by making someone else out there sad or unhappy.
