count that day lost- post reading activity

                                                                                                                                                   27.9.2012

Dear diary,
Today, after school I was on my way home.
Just an ordinary day, walking back home after a long day at school, with my earphones, listening to music.
When all of the sudden, I saw a man sitting on the ground with his head down.
I walked up to him and asked him what happend.
He said he had a very hard day and he couldnt find he's lunch bag.
Tired and starving, I offered him some of my own food that I had saved from school.
With a wide smile he thanked me, took the food, and ate with joy.
At the end, I was happy I made that person feel alot better.

                                                                                                                                                   28.9.2012
Dear diary,
Today wasn't much of a great day.
First off, I got up late so I didn't really made it to school on time.
Also, I got up kind of sick, I didn't really felt that good when I was in class.
I didn't talk much with my friends today, honestly I wasn't in a good mood to talk to anyone today.
So I got home, to write this down and go to bed, hoping tomorrow it will be much better than today.

count that day lost- bridging- activity 2

The information that was given to me about Eliot and what she went through out her life really made me understand the poem alot better than before.

First off, the information that I received about the poet's life is that Eliot isn't his real name, also he's not a male actually, she's a famale who tried to make a difference in society because, at that age, female writters were not taken seriously by the society. Her real name was Mary Ann Evans, and along with other writters of that age she wanted to improve society.

Mary Ann Evans often wrote about the differences between the wealthy landlords and the poor.
Same goes for the poem, Count That Day Lost, which talks about a good, well spent day, in contrast to a bad and a ruined  day. She really wanted to point out the responsibilities people have in their everyday lives and the option to choose which path to take.

In conclusion, I think, the given information about the poet's life could make us understand the poems of the poets alot better and see the reason behind each poem, which we didnt see before.

The poem that was taken from the net relates to Eliots poem in a way that they both show us how to spend our day, how you can spent your day in a good way, or how can you completely ruin your day. In other words, we can choose how to spend our day, either in a good way, or a bad way.

It reflects the issues that Eliot worte about, by telling us that even though we have a choice, and even if we are choosing to ruin our day, its our day afterall, at the end of the day, we will feel sad or unhappy by making someone else out there sad or unhappy.
